Who do the Republicans Fear?

Tue Nov 09, 2004 at 07:09:56 PM PDT

Another Who-Do-We-Run-In-2008 Diary... so if you just can't take another one, might want to move along.

For the rest of you that enjoy this sort of thing, I was thinking we could approach it from a new angle. Who do you think the Republicans are terrified of running against? Is it Obama, who renders their subtle rascism schtick moot? Is it Warner, who could carry VA? Is it Richardson, who could bring the Latino vote? Is it a true blue progressive like Feingold, that maybe America has been waiting for?

FoxNews has been pushing the Hillary-Will-Run- meme continuously since Tues. It could mean they're scared of her and want to tear her down quick. Or it could mean they think she'd be an easy win, and want her to run? Who knows with them.

I am Gay and I am scared.

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 10:43:59 AM PDT

It seems the dominant storyline that's developing in the mainstream, and indy media is that that Hate Amendments killed Kerry. Sadly, I think this is true.

I was never one to care about politics that much, but I started to this election. I have come to know the people on this site as intelligent, thoughtful, funny, kind and compassionate. I consider you my friends.

I had no idea there was this much intolerance in this country. I am honestly considering moving to somewhere that is more accepting... because I feel it will get worse. I truly can invision a future now where Nazi-type shit starts slowly happening for our community.

Pre-emptive Meme Busting: Nov.3

Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 10:11:38 AM PDT

I sense Kerry will win. You may or may not agree with me, but lets just assume I'm right. I think starting Nov.3 (assuming its a clean win) we need to work hard to destroy the nasty Republican memes that are inevitable.

Please use this as a forum to think of ways to combat them.

BREAKING KATHERINE HARRIS: Man tries to run down Witch

Wed Oct 27, 2004 at 11:29:05 AM PDT

Have a very sick, sick chuckle on me. She's fine, so we can now speculate as to why this man would want to mess up his car by allowing it to touch her. " Witnesses said a silver Cadillac sped through an intersection and swerved onto the sidewalk. The car headed straight toward Harris before swerving at the last minute and driving off, according to police. Harris told police she feared for her life and could not move as the vehicle sped toward her, police records show."

Grim: What if Rhenquist goes

Mon Oct 25, 2004 at 11:11:30 AM PDT

I hate to be so grim, and I truly wish the best for him, but what happens if Chief Justice Rhenquist passes on before the election. Does Bush get to appoint a replacement? Does he get to promote another justice to Chief Justice?  Can they start the process before Kerry takes office?

Once again, I don't agree with the man politically, but I hope he pulls through.

WE NEED A WOLF AD

Fri Oct 22, 2004 at 01:34:12 PM PDT

Didn't see this posted.

Democrats have the oppurtunity to turn what could be a devastating ad on the thugs if we work quickly.

Just as simple "Boy Who Cried Wolf" theme.

Using the same setting as the thug ad, simply retell the story, and imply that Iraq is the equivilant of the boy who lied. Then show the real wolves (Iran and NK) and then ask if the boy can be trusted.

Simple. It takes their theme and uses a popular story and associates the word WOLF with LYING, instead of WOLF with FEAR.

Casual Friday Funnies: DC Fall Makeover Guide

Fri Oct 01, 2004 at 11:17:55 AM PDT

Being that today is a great day of celebration (thank you smirker-in-chief), I thought a bit of humor was in order.

The crisp fall air is here, and its time for some of our political figures to update their looks" Feel free to add your own suggestions for how our wonks can spout their hate and look good doing it

Don't Vote For Me

Mon Sep 20, 2004 at 12:18:15 PM PDT

This is my first diary, but I love this place, so I'll try not to be nervous.

Here's a speech I'd like Kerry (or Edwards) to give. For me, it's so sad to see us Democrats floundering in the past few years, and I really think it comes down to the fact that we're not very confident(or that we don't project confidence.) I believe that 70 percent of the American people are aligned with Democratic values. However, Americans also love when someone fights for what they believe in against all odds (see any blockbuster movie for proof.) But for some reason, not many of us can say "I believe that health care is a right of all Americans. Period. End of story." When a Democrat is confident, he/she will win every time (see Bill Clinton.)

Anyhoo, I'd love to see a section of a speech that included: (in extended section)
